Who we are
Science and action for a living sea, from Santa Marta.
Our history
Fundación Mobula is a Colombian non-profit established in 2026, based in Santa Marta, at the heart of the Colombian Caribbean. We are young as an organisation, but the team brings years of verifiable experience in marine research, scientific diving and community work.
Our first visible result is the Marine Observatory: more than 2.1 million scientific records from OBIS on the 5,038 species known in the Colombian Caribbean, each with its own profile, open to anyone who needs them and with the coordinates of threatened species protected by design.

Mission
To protect the marine biodiversity of the Colombian Caribbean by combining rigorous scientific research, our own technology and work with the communities who live from the sea.
Vision
A Caribbean where decisions about the sea are made with open, verifiable evidence, and where those who depend on it have a voice in its conservation.
Values
No data is invented and every source is declared. Anything that could put a threatened species at risk is not published. Everything else is opened.
